INTRODUCTION

Standard texts of anatomy and embryology discuss urogenital development. However, the subjects are often discussed briefly and key elements of anatomy and development may be glossed over. This presentation expands existing knowledge and seeks to add new details that may otherwise be missed or unknown.

The following chapters describe in some detail the anatomy and development of the male and female urogenital system.

The developmental anatomy of the trigone of the bladder and urethra in both sexes is explained.

Development of the male urethra or vestibule is discussed.

An understanding of the development of the male external genitalia, male urethra, the glans penis, glanular urethra and the external urethral meatus, is presented.

A new concept in the development of the ureter and congenital anomalies of the ureter is proposed.
